Office Assistant (Part-Time)

Position Summary

The Office Assistant will be responsible for supporting a variety of departments as needed, to include Finance and Facilities.  This role will perform a wide variety of clerical and administrative support in a fast paced, team oriented environment.  This is a part time position, approximately 20 hours per week.  Will work with leaders of a variety of departments.


  • Performs filing in a wide variety of record keeping systems including hardcopy files as well as input and retrieval of information from computerized record keeping systems
  • Operates office equipment including but not limited to computer, copier, printer, and postage meter
  • Proofreads and checks or compares data for accuracy and completeness
  • Sets up, catalogs and maintains physical and/or electronic filing systems
  • Purges files periodically; boxes files/records and sends to storage
  • Compiles and prepares mailings for distribution
  • Sort and classify information
  • Moves light office equipment, files, boxes and materials
  • Unpacks office supplies, breakroom supplies, and equipment and stocks supply cabinets, shelves, refrigerator and other storage areas
  • Performs office organization duties to ensure a safe and efficient work environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, a combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered
  • Experience with word processing and computer equipment
  • Knowledge of alphabetic, numeric, subject and chronological indexing and filing rules and systems
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions and procedures
  • Effective communication with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds and ability to function calmly in stressful situations, which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Fluent business English (including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some experience working in a business setting preferred
